To Ms. Stanimira Georgieva, Manager of “Eyes Open”
Mr. Dr. Valentin Hristov, Mayor of Pleven
Mr.Ass. Prof. Dr. Ivan Malkodanski, President of the Pleven Municipal Council
Representatives of the sponsors, organizers and participants of the 12th edition of the Pleven Friendship Marathon

On behalf of the Romanian Embassy in Sofia, I send you all my warmest greetings and much success in the race that awaits you at the Pleven Friendship Marathon.

The marathon is perhaps one of the oldest and most beautiful sports events. Completing a marathon race does not only mean kilometers covered, but also determination, discipline, timing and a lot of willpower. The marathon is the sports event that has demonstrated that limits can be overcome, that work, training and exercise pay off, that every step taken in the race tells a story about courage, will and the strength not to give up. The marathon is also beautiful because not only the winners, but also all the participants win not only the race itself, but also the respect and admiration of all those who watch it and support them.

I congratulate the organizers, participants and last but not least the sponsors of the event for the 12 editions of this marathon and I am proud of the fact that the idea of organizing it in Pleven was born in Romania, in Bucharest. It is no coincidence that Romanians, children, young people and the elderly also participate in the editions in Pleven, an aspect that highlights the friendship between the two peoples, Romanian and Bulgarian, as well as the common passion for sports, both long-distance, as well as the marathon.

I conclude these lines by telling you that through your participation and success you demonstrate not only physical endurance, but also a special inner strength through which you become examples for everyone around you. I return with my congratulations, and I wish you much success in the races to come, as well as in all future challenges in life.

Ambassador,
Brindușa – Ioana Predescu
