Pleven Friendship Marathon 2020 is adapted for people with different abilities.

Course

42.2 km classic marathon (certified course)

Two laps with 4 turn-around points: after the wooden bridge of the Vit River (7 km), the dam (23 km), at the beginning of Kaylaka Park (28 km) and again the dam (34 km).

Please be careful and follow the signs and instructions of the judges:

  • 2.5 km from the start – the routes of 42.2 km and the remaining distances are divided. Participants in 42.2 km should go to the right and proceed straight.
  • 28 km away at the beginning of Kaylaka Park the routes of 42.2 km and the remaining distances are divided. Participants in 42.2 km should go to the left, make a turn back to the park for a second lap.

21.1 km classic half-marathon/relay (certified course)

One lap with 2 turn-around points: 2.5 km after the start and the dam (13 km).

Please be careful and follow the signs and instructions of the judges: 

  • 2.5 km from the start – the route is divided with that of 42.2 km. Participants in 21.1 km should go to the left and turn back to the city;
  • 19 km on return to the beginning of Kaylaka Park the participants have to go to the right and exit the park in the direction of the city.

10 km

One lap with one turn-around point at the 5 km after the start, in Kaylaka Park.

Please be careful and follow the signs and instructions of the judges:

  • at 8 km on return to the beginning of Kaylaka Park the participants in 10k should go to the right and exit the park in the direction of the city.

Kids’ race

Kids run around the mausoleum building counterclockwise following the instructions of the judges:

  • 6-7 year age group – one lap (300 m) and finish under the main marathon arch;
  • 8-9 year age group – 2 laps (600 m) and finish under the main marathon arch;
  • 10-12 year age group – 3 laps (900 m) and finish under the main marathon arch.

3 km mass run “I can”

Three laps on the following route: after starting at the main start/finish line of the marathon you turn immediately to the left, run on the bike lane to the end of the park, at the first traffic light turn left and back on the other side of the river reaching the back of the mausoleum, behind the mausoleum turn right, then left and again left in front of the mausoleum. At the end of the third lap you finish under the the Start/Finish arch.

Refreshment and water points

Marked on the course map:

  • Refreshment points (with water, electrolytes, fruits, chocolate, resins, salty snacks, cheese, pickles at all points while energy gels, honey, magnesium and other sports supplements at the main point in Kaylaka Park only) – at every 5km;
  • Water points – water at every turn-around point.

Personal beverages and energy products

Personal beverages and energy products shall be delivered to the organizers on the day of the race Sunday, 27 September from 8.00 to 8.30 am at the marathon office in the Children’s Center. They shall be well marked with your race number and the refreshment point where it shall be placed clearly written on a sticker (e.g. 123/15). There are only 2 refreshment points where you can place your personal products: 

  • for 21 km half-marathon runners – at kilometer 10.5 (2 passes)
  • for 42 km marathon runners – at kilometer 15 (one pass) and 20 (4 passes).

Medical point and ambulance

Located at the Start/Finish zone.

In case of need of medical assistance during the race please inform some of the volunteers on the course who will take care of you.

Free massage after finish – at the Start/Finish zone. Priority is given to runners with cramps, dehydration or other serious forms of discomfort.
